La Remontada...The greatest comeback ever

 FC Barcelona, one of the biggest football clubs in the world, home for some of the greatest footballers in the world such as Messi, Xavi, Iniesta. Barcelona was always the favorites to make it to the business end of the UEFA Champions league, a competition for Europe's elite clubs. But on February 14,2017 Barca had one of their humiliating defeats in the competition's history and the chances of making it through the round of 16 was slimmer then ever.

Parc des prince, the intimidating structure, home for Parisian footballing giants Paris Saint Germain, hosted the first leg of the match between Fc Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain. It was a very impulsive clash between them which saw Paris take a 4-0 lead over Barca. The team was literally down and out.

 Camp Nou, Barcelona was all set to host the return leg of this clash. Luis enrique, coach of Barca at that time was under immense pressure. The treble winning coach faced the media before the match and he said, "If they can score 4 goals we can score 6 goals". The fans appreciated the confidence of the coach but he was heavily criticized by footballing experts. But little did they all know what was gonna happen.

La Remontada, the word cooked up by media pundits to hype up the match but everyone knew Barca had a task, far to impossible. Once the match began the team played with extreme confidence and pulled back three goals within the 50 minute mark. The fans had a sigh of relief knowing that if their team scores one more goal then the match will draw and go to extra time, but it did not last long, Parisian forward Edinson Cavani drove a dagger through the heart of Barca fans by scoring a crucial away goal in the 62nd minute. Now with 28 minutes of normal time remaining Barca needed three goals. The clock was ticking faster than the heartbeat of the fans. Till the 87th minute the scoreline remained the same. Some fans started loosing hope and fled the arena. In the 88th minute Barca was awarded a free kick in a dangerous arena. Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr curled the ball past the goal keeper and the momentum was shifted towards Barcelona. A total of six minutes were added as extra time. In the fisrt minute of extra time a penalty was awarded to Barca and Neymar casually put the ball behind the net for the second time in a span of three minutes. Barca needed a solitary goal in four minutes. With a minute remaining on the clock Barca were awarded a free kick far away from the goal post, Neymar crossed towards the flock of players, the defenders cleared it first time. The ball reached neymar again and this time he lifted one behind the defensive line of Paris, where Sergio Roberto booted the ball behind the net. The match ended 6-1 and Barca was through to the next stage. Thus la Remontada was completed and it was regarded as one of the best comebacks of all time.
